Living in the heart of the wintering grounds of the Pacific Flyway is a joy beyond description. To see wave after wave of Speckled Belly geese come pouring in by the thousands in just a few short days, the huge white graceful forms of the Tundra Swans as they settle into their winter feeding grounds after a long trip from their Arctic breeding grounds, and to hear the familiar honking of the Canada geese as they make their way into the valley to sit out the long cold of the far north.
Seeing the huge clusters of Pintail, Widgeon, Teal, Mallards, Redhead, Scaup, Canvas Back, as well as all the other migrants that call the Sacramento Valley home for the season. Watching them spread out across the water filled rice fields, and wetlands, as they feed and rest for the upcoming breeding season that begins again each spring.
To experience, first hand, the tremendous influx of birds is truly an amazing spectacle but to retain those images to be viewed over and over again will let them become special memories you will cherish for many years !
