I stumbled into my love of Raptor photography quite by accident one day while on a waterfowl photo shoot. The waterfowl were quite jumpy that day and would not allow me to get close enough to capture any good shots. While attempting to creep close enough I discovered that I had indeed gotten every close to a young Redtail hawk that I discovered was on the same mission as I was but for a different reason. I was able to get some excellent close-ups of him both perched and on the wing.
Since that day I have studied the raptors in print, as well as in the field, and have learned their natural habits as well as discovered a method for locating and getting close enough for some spectacular images. I have even located and photographed Bald Eagles in areas they are not known to frequent but my images prove that they do not always follow the accepted science.
